Chris Wade

biography

I set up Adastra in 1987 in my spare bedroom in North Dalton, where it was shared with one part time member of staff, two labradors and a cat. Prior to that I was working with Hull's Remould Theatre Company. Since then I have been running Adastra, which has expanded in size and so has moved to larger offices in North Dalton. I now have my spare bedroom back for human beings to use instead of dogs, cats and agents!

As well as overseeing the business of Adastra I am also one of its agents. In addition I am the Artistic Director and Manager of the Beverley Folk Festival which I set up in 1983 and which takes place in June each year. My latest little "hobby" is running 2 holiday cottages in the village where I live and in the beautiful old fishing village of Staithes in North Yorkshire.

All this leaves very little time for anything else, but when I get a chance I love hill walking, camping, gardening and looking after my chickens. My background is NOT in music as I studied Zoology and Botany at University specialising in Animal Behaviour which I always think has come in handy working in the music business! I also studied Ecology and Environmental Resources so I often wonder why I have ended up doing what I do???? is there any logic to it all?
