biography
These guys (Narasirato) are certainly a lesson for us all. One thing I would be interested in myself, is to accompany any shows with some sort of exhibition and/or film and talk that can help to educate people / explain a bit about the life and culture of where the band comes from. I would not want it to be just a straight concert that comes and goes with no longer lasting impact on people. I see the music as just a part of the whole process. Is that do-able?
Their 'stories' , their real lives, are quite unbelievable....every time I spend time in their village (five weeks earlier this year to record their next CD) I see, hear or experience something quite breathtaking.
As part of the traditional ceremony to 'launch' their cultural tourism accommodations earlier this year I saw a man eat red/orange glowing scorching hot embers!! In their tradition, such an momentous occasion as the launching, deserved something equally momentous. This fire eating tradition has been passed on down through centuries in one family lineage.
The idea of presenting an exhibition which coincides with their performance is wonderful. Easily attained. I have been filming in their village and at most of their performances, since meeting them in 2004. A very good couple of photographers joined me for their launch, and they took some stunning photos...high quality, big format photos.
In lieu of your ideas re: exhibition to accompany Narasirato performances, check out some of the photos taken by Nic Duncan during our stay earlier this year....link as follows:
