Sean Taylor

biography

Sean Taylor has rapidly grown to be one of the hottest new names in the UK blues/acoustic scene. His incredible passion for performance, sheer talent and songwriting of the highest calibre is a testament to his frequent comparisons with John Martyn, Chris Isaak and Tom Waits.

He has had extensive coverage and outstanding reviews in publications such as ‘Uncut’, ‘Maverick’, ‘Classic Rock’, ‘Acoustic Guitar’ and ‘Rock N’ Reel’ to name but a few, and has been often accredited by BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Mike Harding.

The past couple of years has seen Sean’s profile rocket – amongst an impressive array of festival appearances and a 2 hugely successful nationwide tours, Sean was also asked to represent the UK music industry and perform at the Labour Party Creative Network Launch (Sept 2011) – hosted by Ed Milliband – and was subsequently featured on the front page of Music Week.

Sean’s fourth album ‘Walk With Me’ was Sean’s first major release - and attracted incredible reviews in major music press. Produced by Trevor Hutchinson (Lúnasa, Sharon Shannon, The Waterboys), it featured pedal steel legend BJ Cole as well as a stellar array of other musicians including Vyvienne Long (Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan) and Dave Hingerty (The Frames, Josh Ritter).

New album ‘Love Against Death’ is a masterpiece. In Sean’s words, “a direct challenge to a reality dominated by greed, inequality, and injustice. It’s the choice we make at every moment, in every relationship, and by every action.”. Recorded in Austin, Texas and produced by Mark Hallman (Carole King, AniDi Franco, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lyle Lovett et al.), it also features Eliza Gilkyson and Kim Deschamps.

Now touring with a drummer, Sean’s live show is at its absolute best. A magnificent, atmospheric snapshot of Sean’s insight into the world we live in. Beautiful & powerful songs, outstanding musicianship and a truly intimate, yet intense experience. Highly recommended.
