Lúnasa win Performers of the Decade in the liveIreland.com Decades Awards 2000 to 2010

LUNASA toured the world in 2010 including US (40 shows across Spring, Summer and Fall tours), much of Europe, and Japan. They shared headline performances with Natalie Merchant at Celtic Connections and Cambridge Folk Festival. Lúnasa were chosen to close Cambridge 2010 where FOLK & ROOTS reviewed ... "the most entertaining band of the festival ... blindingly talented." The Independent named them a 'festival highlight'. 2011 began with a gala performance in Moscow at the Moscow International House of Music

Ireland's #1 instrumental traditional music legends, Lúnasa celebrate the arrival of a new decade with new album Lá Nua (Irish for "new day"). So far, the band internationally have sold over 200,000 records and boast an impressive back catalogue of 7 highly acclaimed studio albums.

Lúnasa are internationally acknowledged as being the finest traditional Irish instrumental band of recent times, and one of the hottest Irish acts around today.

Their inventive arrangements and bass driven grooves have steered Irish acoustic music into surprising new territory. Their recordings have been hailed as some of the best and most important world music albums anywhere, while their blend of intelligence, innovation, virtuosity, and passion has brought them to the forefront of Celtic music.

Recently, the band shared the stage with Natalie Merchant at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, and is one of the featured collaborators on Merchant's album Leave Your Sleep (Nonesuch).

Their last tour (November 2010) was a huge success with nearly all of the shows reaching sell-out, and the band maintain a solid track record of sellout shows, high ticket sales, and very, very happy audiences.
